Abstract
The plastic behavior of Cu–Zn–Al martensitic phases is reported. The 6R phase was obtained by tensile tests, and the plastic deformation occurs during the transformation. The 18R and 2H structures were induced by compression, plastic strain takes place once the transformation is completed and by increasing the compressive stress. The observed slip modes in each structure correspond to shear on close-packed systems.
