Abstract
Modified analytic embedded atom method (MAEAM) potentials for pure Al, Pb and Al–Pb alloy have been constructed using physical quantities only for pure Al and Pb. Application of these potentials to the simulation of segregation in the (100) surface of Al50Pb50 alloy shows that Pb segregates to the topmost surface layer and depletes strongly on the subsurface layer. Pb concentration has a damped oscillation in the whole composition range.
