PLAY IN THE DAY OF QIAOQIAO: A CHINESE PERSPECTIVE

This article explores the role of play in early childhood education In China. A typical day in the life of one Chinese child enrolled In a preprimary school prograin is described and research findings on which dally activities were perceived as play by the child, her parents, grandparents, and teacher are reported. The article concludes with a discussion about the impact of culture on perceptions of play.
