Abstract
In this work, the density of liquid Ni–Co binary alloys was measured with a modified sessile method (MSDM). It was found that the density of the liquid Ni–Co alloys decreases with increasing temperature and cobalt concentration in the alloys, and the molar volume of liquid Ni–Co binary alloys increases with the increase of temperature and cobalt concentration. The partial molar volume of cobalt in liquid Ni–Co binary alloy has been calculated approximately as [(6.78 − 4.82 × 10−4T) − (1.74 − 1.67 × 10−3T) × XCo] × 10−6 m3 mol−1. Compared with the ideal mixing, the molar volume of Ni–Co liquid binary alloys shows a negative deviation.
