Abstract
Numerous analytical and numerical studies on equal channel angular pressing have been performed in recent years. The present work focuses on the effects of friction, initial material properties and die geometry and aims at enhancing the understanding of these effects on strain homogeneity and mean effective strain after one pass route A pressing using finite element simulations. The results show a dependency of the strain mainly on die geometry, as expected from analytical analyses, and slightly on friction. Moreover, a dependency of strain homogeneity on material properties is observed but the presence of interactions between channel angle, corner angle and work hardening rate on homogeneity were detected. In addition, friction seems to influence homogeneity but to a lesser extent.
