Abstract
The deformation behaviour of the ternary magnesium alloy AJ50 (5 wt.%Al–0.6 wt.%Sr–balance Mg) was investigated in uniaxial tension tests at temperatures between 20 and 300 °C and at an initial strain rate ranging in the order of 10−5 s−1. The yield stress as well as the maximum stress of the alloy are very sensitive to the testing temperature. The work hardening coefficient decreases with increasing stress and temperature. Possible hardening and softening mechanisms are discussed.
