Abstract
The effects of wheel surface velocity (VS) on the microstructures and mechanical properties of a Fe74.5Cu1Si13.5B9Al2 alloy have been studied. It has been shown that decreasing VS can obtain different microstructures, with both the hardness and elastic modulus increasing with decreasing the crystalline degree. Properly controlling VS can obtain similar microstructures and mechanical properties to those of Finemet-type alloys produced by partially devitrifying the amorphous precursors, but with a shorter production cycle and relatively lower cost.
