Abstract
In order to carry out electron scattering experiments with longitudinally polarized electrons, a `Siberian Snake’ comprising superconducting solenoids and skew quadrupoles was installed in the 900 MeV electron storage ring `AmPSʹ. In this paper the basic optics of this novel design is discussed and first experimental results are reported.
