Abstract
Dynamic alignment of beam on the crystal during data collection was studied. Development of silicon photo-diode detectors for the vacuum ultraviolet and soft X-ray spectral regions has led to the use of such devices as beam alignment tools for Protein Crystallography beamlines on the Synchrotron Radiation Source at Daresbury. Quadrant photo-diodes are used to provide signals proportional to the number of photons hitting each photo-diode, these are amplified, digitised and then summed to give the x–y position of the beam centre.
