Abstract
A series of Silicon Vertex Detectors (SVD 1) have been working in Belle since 1999. Their excellent performance has been essential to successful measurements of the CP asymmetry in the neutral B meson system. Further improvement is expected with the upgraded detector (SVD 2), which is close to completion and scheduled for installation in the summer of 2003.
