Abstract
The liquid behavior of molten In, Sn and In–20 wt.% Sn were investigated using viscometry and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Normally, viscosity exponentially decreases with increasing temperature. Anomalous transition points however, were observed in our measurements of viscosity in the In–Sn system space. DSC measurements of a In–20 wt.% Sn alloy revealed peaks corresponding to the anomalous transition points on the viscosity–temperature curves. Viscous activation energy, the flow units of these melts and their structural features were analyzed in this paper.
