Chuaria, Tawuia, Longfengshania. Trois classes de fossiles précambriens pour un même taxon

Résumé a, Tawuia et Longfengshania sont trois fossiles précambriens conservés sous forme de compressions carbonées. On les a trouvés ensemble dans la Formation de Tuanshanzi, en Chine, vers 1700 Ma. Kumar a découvert quʹà Rampura, en Inde, Tawuia avait servi de pédoncule reliant Chuaria à un socle adhésif. Il a interprété lʹensemble comme une algue portant une boule de spores. Lʹhypothèse soutenue dans cet article est que Chuaria, Tawuia et Longfengshania représentent trois stades dans le développement dʹun même individu qui nʹétait pas une algue mais un parent éloigné de lʹancêtre commun des animaux et des champignons, un précurseur des actuels Dictyostélides. Chuaria, Tawuia and Longfengshania are three Precambrian fossils preserved as carbonaceous compressions. They were found together in the Tuanshanzi Formation, China, circa 1700 Ma. Kumar discovered that Tawuia was used in Rampura, India, as a peduncle linking Chuaria to an adhesive base. He interpreted this combination as a seaweed bearing a ball of spores. The present paper supports the hypothesis that Chuaria, Tawuia and Longfengshania refer to three stages in the development of the same individual that was not a seaweed but a distant relative of the common ancestor of Metazoa and Fungi, a forerunner of the current Dictyostelids.
