Abstract
This article describes the use of shearing interferometry (shearography) for the visualization and measurement of the air temperature in a 2D axisymmetric natural convection flow. The limitation of the interferometer field was circumvented by a new optical arrangement to accurately measure the temperature distribution under a horizontal hot disc, 30 mm in diameter. The fringe analysis protocol, using the advantages of an FFT algorithm, allowed us to perform two-dimensional filtering and the evaluation that lead to an efficient reduction of different noise on the interferograms. The remaining small fluctuations were removed by an appropriate smoothing technique applied to the measured interference order before Abel integral inversion. We present the mapping of the air temperature field T ( r , z ) under the disc and determine the variation of the local heat transfer coefficient. To cite this article: A. El Motassadeq, H.
