Abstract
Two new ensign wasp (Hymenoptera: Evaniidae) genera, Protoparevania Deans and Eovernevania Deans, and species, P. lourothi Deans and E. cyrtocerca Deans, are described from the Lebanese amber outcrop of Mdeirij/Hammana. These fossils represent two of the oldest (120–130 Ma) known evaniids and share many of the synapomorphies that unite extant Evaniidae. Their unique morphological attributes and how they contribute to our current understanding of evolution in Evanioidea are discussed.
