X-ray grazing incidence diffraction on monolayers at the surface of water

Surface diffraction of X-rays at the air/water interface is now becoming a tool for numerous systems, ranging from simple amphiphiles to large molecules like C60. In the past year, several original studies were conducted on the role of chirality in 2D. The quality of the synchotron beams now allows the observation of short-range order, as well as highly ordered protein crystals having large unit cells.
