Structures, organo–mineral compositions and diagenetic changes in biominerals

Numerous investigations on mineral–organic relationships in biominerals have recently been undertaken. They provide information on the biomineralization and diagenetic processes, and new insights on the important issue of the role of the organic matrices. Progress has come, in part, from improvements in analysis tools and from the combination of multi-technique observations.
