Abstract
Design and first results of a newly constructed autonomous deep sea profiler for CTD measurements are described. The profiler differs substantially from previous attempts, as its energy concept uses potential energy for the movement of the vehicle. The vehicle is buoyant and its compressibility is adjusted to that of sea water. A 1 year time series is used to illustrate the performance of the profiler.
