Dust opacities in dense regions

In this review paper, we discuss dust opacities relevant for dense regions in molecular clouds and for protoplanetary, accretion disks. We consider the formation of dust aggregates by the coagulation of grains. A main part of the paper deals with the different methods which are available for the calculation of the optical properties of fluffy particles. Recent grain models for the regions considered here will be presented.
