Abstract
The Sr–Mn serial spinel is a promising coating material for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) steel interconnects. In this paper, the Sr2MnO4 preparation process was optimized via high energy ball milling and calcination. The optimal process conditions were a ball milling time of 3 h, sintering temperature of 1000 °C, sintering time of 10 h, and double cycling. The lowest resistivity achieved with the optimized process was 0.142 Ω m. The sintering temperature was decreased after the optimization process with an associated increase in preparation efficiency and reduction in calcination time. XRD patterns of the specimen also demonstrated the above conclusions.
