Abstract
The flow of a power-law fluid over a moving flat plate with arbitrary injection/suction is investigated and the momentum and energy equations are solved when viscous dissipation is present. The partial differential equations are reduced to a set of boundary condition, ordinary differential equations using the Merk–Chao series and general solutions for velocity and temperature fields are obtained which do not rely on the injection/suction velocity profile and other characteristics of the fluid flow. The unknown initial conditions for some cases are listed and the formulations are implemented to a special case when a uniform injection/suction velocity profile exists. The effect of viscous dissipation is analyzed in different conditions and results are illustrated in several pictures.
