  • Abstract
The primary aim of the present study is to investigate the mooring safety due to the structural modification of barge ship. The modeling of a two-dimensional dynamic has been carried out. And the numerical calculation of mooring forces according to structural modification has also been carried out simultaneously by the use of Matlab. The displacements of surge, heave and pitch have been calculated according to mooring cable length of the barge ship. The input data of motion analysis was also applied as real-sea conditions for the external forces such as wind, current and mooring force. The results showed that mooring force increased to 90 kN after conducting structural rebuilding, and the maximum mooring force occurred in length 30 m with influence of barge motion. Therefore it was confirmed that unnecessary structural modification could be the reason why barge ship reach to cut the mooring cable and sink down the ship.
