Abstract
In this short discussion paper, the suitability of using an asymptotic analysis to analyse the fretting fatigue tests reported by Noraphaiphipaksa et al. (2013) is examined. The results reveal that because the load range in which the tests were conducted resulted in large amounts of slip and separation, this asymptotic analysis cannot be employed. However, the load range for which an asymptotic analysis could be employed is found, and it is hoped that future tests might be carried out within this load range.
