Relative land/sea level change is not the same as vertical land motion: Comment on Rennie, A.F. and Hansom, J.D. (2011) “Sea level trend reversal: Land uplift outpaced by sea level rise on Scotlandʹs coast” Geomorphology 125: 193–202

There is fundamental error in the recent paper by Rennie and Hansom (2010). At numerous points they refer to a reduction in the rate of change, or “isostatic slowdown” (p. 201) between the last 1000 years and the present. This is based on an incorrect comparison of data variables: relative sea/land level change is not the same as vertical land motion.
