Abstract
The superconductor cable with multi-stage twisted strands is the main component of ITER conductor. The pattern of cable is essential for the performance of cabling and conductor. This paper proposes a 3D model to describe the pattern of the cable accurately. The current model gives approximate simulation of strands, sub-cables, sub-cable wraps and cross-section of every stage of the cable. The 3D model could provide theory analysis for design of cable pattern. In this paper, the model is applied to the ITER TF cable, and the simulation results are very satisfactory.
