Abstract
In this paper we consider steady laminar flow and heat transfer generated by two infinite parallel disks separated by a gas-filled micro-gap δ. One disk rotates with angular velocity Ω and the second with angular velocity s Ω . The analysis takes into consideration velocity slip, temperature jump, rarefaction and dissipation. A solution based on similarity transformation is obtained and used to examine the effects of the governing parameters on the velocity field, temperature distribution, disks’ torque and power, and Nusselt number. The solution requires numerical integration of the resulting coupled ordinary non-linear differential equations. An exact analytical solution is obtained for the limiting case of small Reynolds numbers.
