Abstract
This paper investigates the various reliability characteristics of networking systems connected in a ring topology. The system contains n stations connected in a ring topology. In a ring topology,each station is connected to the next station and the last station connected to the first. All stations are interconnected in series to form a closed loop. A failure in any cable or device breaks the loop and can take down the entire network. All failure rates are assumed to be constant and the repair rate is also constant. By using Laplace transformation and Markov process,reliability,MTTF,sensitivity analysis of reliability and MTTF are determined. Some particular examples are also presented. © School of Engineering,Taylor’s University.
