Abstract
Technical advances in interventional neuroradiology and endovascular neurosurgery have afforded endovascular embolization as a modality of treatment for cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs). This technique is recently introduced in Zagazig University Hospitals. During a time period of one year, we have treated 5 cases with cerebral AVMs using cyanoacrylate glue (Histoacryl) as an embolizing agent. They were 3 males and 2 females with an mean age of 28.6 years (range of 15- 50 years). Four cases presented with cerebral hemorrhage due to ruptured AVMs and one case presented with epileptic fits not controlled with medical treatment. In this paper, the technique and the early results of treatment were presented and the literatures were reviewed.
