IDENTIFYING THE WAY OF JOINING SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES OF STUDENTS FAMILY AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PRIMARY EDUCATION IN EDUCATION FACULTY IN MUĞLA UNIVERSITY

The aim of this study is to identify the way of joining spare time activities of the seniorprospective teacher at the department of primary education in education faculty in MuğlaUniversity.In accordance with this aim, 305 student’s family (610 person) from pre-school teaching,primary education teaching, social sciences teaching and science and technology teachingwere randomly included in the research context. A questionnaire which is prepared by gettingthe experts’ comments was conducted to the subjects. The relevant data is evaluated as tableswhich are constructed according to frequency levels and percentages using SPSS.According to demographic properties, it is seen that the family age, gender, and number ofsiblings of the students are variable; the family income is supported by the father and they arefrom low class. (1000 TL and below )According to using spare time it is seen that the low income family cannot use their spare timeconveniently, they are passive in this process, they use this time either resting at home or at theopen area, and especially fathers do watching TV, passive resting and reading book,newspaperand journals, mothers also do watching TV, passive resting and visiting relatives and that theycannot join other activities since they don’t have enough money.In this context, the student’s family should be informed on the issue of using their spare timeduring daily life period. Opportunities should be given and new facilities according to theirinterest and needs should be presented. Besides,university student should be educated in sparetime so that it is provided that student’s family bocome concious about in this subject.
