Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the mistake and 6th grade students’ misconception about the proportion ratio subject. The sample of the research is composed of 42 students from 6th grade who are enrolled in a public school in the Bingöl city center in the 2009-2010 academic years. Therefore, in line with the expert opinion, a diagnostic test consisting of 10 questions has been prepared to determine students’ misconceptions. According to the results of data analysis, students’ mistakes and interviews, students have misconceptions in constructing ratio –proportion concepts and the concepts that necessitate using proportional reasoning. Some recommendations for resolving these misconceptions were discussed at the end.
