Abstract
The purpose of this two year longitudinal study was to investigate the effects of EuropeanLanguage Portfolio (ELP) on reading skills of high school students with the standardizedlanguage tests. Participants were twenty students selected on the basis of their responses to aquestionnaire based on the items in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).In addition to KET and PET tests, self-assessment checklist was also conducted as pre-testand post test to cross-check the study group. The group was taught reading through materialsprepared for the levels in CEFR. Every student did several activities related to reading duringthe learning process. The study revealed that the ELP made an important contribution to theparticipants’ success in reading skills and to their perceptions about their proficiency.
