Abstract
This study is a descriptive research in the scanning model. As for data collection, “Democratic Attitude Scale” developed by Gözütok (1995) has been used. This scale is applied to 200 pre-service teachers studying at Faculty of Education in Gazi University in the 2010-2011 academic year and to 200 teachers teaching at a primary school in Mamak district inAnkara. As a result of this study, democratic attitudes of pre-service teachers and teachers donot vary significantly. Also, it has been found that pre-service teachers and teachers have midleveldemocratic attitudes. While there is not any significant difference in democratic attitudesof pre-service teachers in terms of the sex variable, the sex variable has constituted a noticeabledifference on democratic attitudes of teachers in favor of women. While democratic attitudes ofteachers who have high-income are more positive than those who have low-income, high levelof income has not had any positive effect on democratic attitudes among pre-service teachers.
