Abstract
Intercultural communicative competence (ICC) is defined to be at the heart of foreignlanguage education nowadays due to the sensitivity of English Language Teaching (ELT)world to the term ‘culture’. EFL teachers should gain and teach ICC. Accordingly, this paperaims to understand how much preference EFL teachers express for intercultural elements inthe teaching materials. A qualitative research was designed via semi-structured interviewwith international EFL teachers. The findings reveal EFL teachers express less preference tointercultural elements in their materials. Specific emphasis on ICC is to be embedded to EFLteacher training programmes so that teachers can perform in the interculturalisation processmore effectively.
