Abstract
This research was carried out with the aim of analyzing the views of pre-service teachers, studied in Faculty of Education, about the selection and assignment of field teaching. A total of 180 pre-service teachers who were studying at the Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education in a university located in the Aegean Region participated in the research. Based on descriptive research methods, open ended question technique, one of the data collection tools was employed in this research. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of 7 open ended questions. Content analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data. Some of the acquired data showed that the pre-service teachers had negative opinions about the exam used in field teaching and felt anxiety and inadequacy. Besides, pre-service teachers found teacher assignments based merely on the results of an exam that evaluates cognitive features insufficient.
