  • Abstract
    This study is conducted, by revealing the views of music teachers regarding the 2006 elementary education music lesson curriculum, with the aim of making evaluations about the curriculum, of revealing the outlook of the curriculum in practice, and of contributing to the improvement of the curriculum. Samples of the study comprise of 64 elementary music education teachers working in central and other districts of the city of Ankara in 2010-2011 academic year. Semi-structured interview forms that are developed by the researchers are used in the study in order to obtain the opinion of the music teachers on the elementary music education curriculum. The result of the research shows that the large majority of music teachers do not understand the revised curriculum of the elementary school music education sufficiently, finding their own professional knowledge level deficient concerning the theory of constructivist learning, not taking in-service technical course for themselves for being instructed in the programme, and needing as such.
