Abstract
In this study, the fact that Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar has a simile-based world in whatever field he writes has been tried to be shown with reference to a quotation from his book Yaşadığım Gibi. One of the constitutive elements of this kind of linguistic world is metaphor. This paper aims at showing that metaphor usage goes beyond being a preference in Tanpınar’s world.
