Biotechnology and genetically modified organism phenomena in Turkey

First of all the geographic and cultural conditions of the country have to be analysed in detail, during the conclusion of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in Turkey. That’s why the “biodiversity convention” and “biosecurity law” must be reevaluated via realization of the necessary arrangements of them before GMO discussions. The GMO subject is very poor in terms of scientific and technological researches and research funds in our country. The last GMO discussions performed in the media by the involved- uninvolved and ignorant people without the limited numbers of specialists and independent scientists were prepared this chaotic results. The main reason of the problems is no-communication between the partners; scientists, government and industry.
