Abstract
Some biologically active Ni (II), Co (II), Cu (II) and Zn (II) complexes of pnitrosalicylidene aniline have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, measurement of conductance and magnetic moments, and spectral data. The ligand and its complexes have also been screened for their antibacterial activity against three bacterial strains such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values were determined at 37 °C for a period of 24 h. The metal complexes were found to be more antibacterial as compared to un-complexed ligand.
