Abstract
In this paper, the use of object oriented design patterns in developing e-business applications is evaluated. The e-banking business model is chosen as a case study. The evaluation is made on two fund transfer applications running on different platforms. E-business applications require a considerable design reuse, flexibility, and maintainability, which are the most important benefits of design patterns. Consequently, the application of design patterns to e-business applications improves the quality characteristics of the software. For the quantitative evaluation, the fund transfer applications are being analyzed by reverse engineering techniques and software metrics are calculated.
