An Elderly and a Lonely Woman s Public Health: A Case

Objective: The aging period is a period bringing with it many problems such as decrease of health functions, loss of status, increase of social problems. One of these problems is the neglect of the elderly. Elderly neglect is called conscious or unconscious disability to meet the social, physical and emotional needs of the elderly. In order to prevent elderly negligence, it is necessary to know the negligence statements and the attempts to be made in case of negligence. In this case report, it has been shared that first-degree relatives can be made within the scope of a narrative and nursing initiative of an elderly and lonely woman exposed to poor hygiene, malnutrition and fluid intake and poor housing conditions, ignoring medical problems. Method: The study was conducted between 03 March and 20 May 2014. In the direction of North American Nursing Diagnosis Association nursing diagnoses, nursing diagnoses were identified and initiatives were made for these nursing diagnoses. The diagnosed nursing diagnoses are diagnoses that can be encountered in elderly neglect. Elderly individuals who take these nursing diagnoses may have been neglected, and it may be thought that these nursing diagnoses may arise in neglected elderly individuals.
