TECHNO-TYPOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE CHALCOLITHIC AGE KNAPPED STONE ASSEMBLAGE OF KARAİN B CHAMBER

We made techno-typological analysis on 6733 end-products, 7870 by-products, 31119 spalls and 463 core/core fragments from the geological level H.IV, dated to the Chalcolithic Age. As a result of the core and core fragments’ analyses, amorphous, unipolar prismatic, bipolar prismatic and cross cores are rich in number. There are 682 microliths and 658 macroliths in H.IV knapped stone industry. The microliths comprise the sub-types of geometric, non-geometric and unidentified microlithic pieces. The most common geometric forms are crescent and triangle. The most frequent non-geometric forms are straight-backed bladelet, retouched bladelet and microgravette point. Many other microlithic types accompany to these non-geometrics. There are many kinds of macrolithic tool in the industry but in order of importance, retouched blade, end scraper, retouched flake, notched tool and sickle blade are remarkable.
