Abstract
The aim of this research is to develop the competencies of teacher candidates in the field of interdisciplinary art education by integrating music, dance/movement and painting for understanding contemporary art, and to evaluate their views on the process. For this purpose, an interdisciplinary art education practice was carried out with 14 teacher candidates. A semi-structured interview technique was used. The data obtained was categorized under specific themes and analyzed through content analysis. The results show that teacher candidates perceive contemporary art as today s art but they have less knowledge of contemporary art and artists. After the practice, teacher candidates indicated that they got new information about contemporary art and artists and they were be able to associate with different art fields, and gained a new perspective. They also suggested examples which provide interaction between arts in adapting this practice into the learning and teaching process in schools.
