Abstract
In this study, I focus on Naśīr al-Dīn al-Ŧūsī’s (d.672/1274) magnum opus in Islamic ethical studies, Akhlāq-i Nāśirī, with a special analysis of his discussions on the subject matter of virtues (fađā’il) and vices (radhā’il). I portray briefly al-Ŧūsī’s intellectual importance within the larger context of Islamic Studies, depict the significance of his work within the framework of Muslim ethical works, and then translate two sections (faśl) from the second division (qism) of the first discourse (maqalāh) from the original Persian text. I aim at presenting a nuanced translation of the original ethical terms and thus contributing to the field in this respect.
