Abstract
Variation, which is a simple linguistic phenomenon that can easily be observed in all contexts where natural languages are used, has been dealt with in studies concerning regional dialects. In general, however, this is an issue that has often been neglected in studies in Turcology. This article first provides general information on variation in natural languages and then focuses on standard variety, regional variety, social variety, and their kinds. Since regional dialects have been looked into in other studies, the article focuses primarily on social varieties.
