  • Abstract
Two Turkish words (eser “epilepsia” yelek “waistcoat”, which have not been studied so far, will be explained in terms of etymology in this article. It is argued that eser “epilepsia” can not be related with the Arabic Word esr “work; efficiency”, but can be explained with the Turkic verb es-“to blow” by means of historical and modern written documents. It is also discussed in this paper that the word yelek “waistcoat” is, whether related to yel “wind” or yal “mane” and investigated the transition process of the the word yelek to the European languages.
