  • Abstract
    Aim of this study is to put forward what the students’ opinions are about contests that are organized under various names by administrations in elementary schools. Population of the research is 3100 students who continue grades of 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8th in 14 different elementary schools; and sample is 1401 students who are chosen by random method in Merkez subprovince in Artvin province during academic year of 2009-2010. It has not been selected another sample due to entirely population has been reached. General scanning model has been used for the research. Data have been gained by a survey which has 20 articles. Survey has been developed by researchers and this study is a quantitative research. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage and chi-square test. According to results of the research, it has been seen that most of the students are willing for school contests. However, a significant number of them specified that if they do not win the contest they will sorrow very much, and the idea of attending school contests brings about too much stress. According to grade and gender variables, it has beenfound significant results between students’ opinions about contests.
