Melampaui Sempadan Penyelidikan Sastera: Satu Perbincangan Berdasarkan Senja Belum Berakhir Karya Azizi Haji Abdullah

Research is one of the prerequisites to confer a degree in all levels of tertiary education. To date, in regard to the study of Malay literature in particular, the level of research based on the Bloom’s Theory of the Taxonomy of Educational Cognitive Objectives were at the lowest categories such as those of ‘knowledge,’ ‘comprehension’ and ‘application.’ Such phenomenon shows that the research were merely done for the purpose of getting certification, thus, diminishing the status of the Malay literature. Therefore, future paradigm of research in regards to Malay literature should be shifted to a higher objectives such as those of ‘analysis,’ ‘synthesis’ and ‘evaluation’ so that the findings of such research may become a contribution of a new ideas. To demonstrate that research objectives can be upgraded to higher categories, this discussion will subject Bloom’s theory on Azizi Haji Abdullah’s novel Senja Belum Berakhir.
