Abstract
Background Aims of the Study: Construction of biogas from plants, in addition to energy provision, could be an effective way to resolve the urban waste crisis and reduce emissions and bring about significant socioeconomic effects. In the present study, we have tried to investigate the role of bio-energy in providing energy supply, biogas production mechanism, the importance and benefits of biogas application, and to describe the process of organic matter decomposition with bacteria. This study has made use of library methods and database information from 1998 to 2014. Besides introducing different technologies for making use of biogas from landfills, its application, economic aspects in the world, and techniques of exploiting its resources have been also evaluated, and a model has been presented for determining the rate of biogas production based on grade A reaction kinetics.
