Abstract
Anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) is the general name given to antibodies developing against deoxyribonucleic acid-histone complexes or to nuclear and cytoplasmic ribonuclear proteins (1). Investigation of ANA seroprevalences is important, not only in the identification of autoimmune diseases in societies, but also in revealing subclinical conditions prior to disease, guiding early treatment and monitoring and in establishing the risk factors for these diseases (2).
