Abstract
In this study, the errors of pronouns which are made by the Turks studying French in elementary and advanced levels in Kızılay Branch of Ankara University TÖMER are analyzed through error analysis approach and the reasons are investigated. The related data were gathered by looking into grammar and writing sections of thesubjects’ final exams. Detected errors of pronouns are divided into six subgroups according to the kinds of errors; errors of demonstrative and interrogativepronouns, use of incorrect pronouns, use of incorrect reflexive pronouns, usingpronouns instead of possessive adjectives, errors of relative pronouns and errors of indefinite pronouns. It has become clear through this study that errors regarding the wrong use of pronouns are the most common type of errors of pronouns. It was found with a thorough observation that the reasons for errors vary according to the types of errors. The leading causes are that the subjects do not know the exact definition of the word replaced by a pronoun and do not recognize the suffix added to the verb.
