CONFUSION IN INTERACTION AMONG KOREAN LEARNERS

This study focused on confusion and language barrier in interaction. The objectives of the study were to identify and discuss the confusion and language barrier among Korean learners learning the Malay language. The samples consisted of 10 subjects from a class of Malay language at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea. The subjects were divided in groups. They were to discuss the sentences that they used in the Malay language classroom. The discussion was observed and taped in two weeks. The utterances that were related to the study were analyzed by using the discourse analysis method. The results of the study showed that subjects were confused in after two semesters of learning the language. The subjects seemed to be using the wrong usage of noun and verb. The subjects also be reminded to use the correct Malay language during the Malay language class. It is hoped that future study will focus on the differences between the Malay language and other language.
